Higher Education Bursaries

The amended B-BBEE Codes gazetted 31 May and implemented in Dec 2019 introduced a new scorecard indicator, namely bursaries for black students for theoretical training at accredited and registered higher education institutions.

B-BBEE Absorption

The BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) scorecard is a South African government initiative to promote economic transformation and empowerment. The absorption points on the BBBEE scorecard refer to the skills development element, which aims to measure a company's efforts to upskill and retain previously disadvantaged individuals.

The skills development element, including absorption points, accounts for 25 points on the overall BBBEE scorecard, making it a significant aspect of a company's empowerment initiatives.
